Load or add data

In the Data Selection view, you can select either result sets or single samples, and load the associated data. If you have already loaded data, the following procedures will add the result sets or single samples to the data that is already available in the Data Processing view.

The data selection tree shows the folder structure of the data path given in the Data Analysis project in the Control Panel. The tree can contain the following items:

  • (folders): A folder can contain other folders, result sets or single runs.

If the folder contains result sets, they are shown as subnodes in the tree.

If the folder contains single runs, the respective data files are listed in the Injection List window. Single runs generated by ChemStation that are stored in ECM 3.x in a zipped format are listed with an *D.SSIzip data file name. For these files the description explains that no metadata are available.

When expanding a folder that contains large amounts of data, a clock icon is shown next to folder as long as data is still loaded. The clock icon disappears automatically as soon as the folder content is complete.

If an item is displayed in red , an error occurred during loading. For more information, show the tooltip of the displayed warning symbol. Refresh the injection tree to load the contents correctly.

  • (result sets): The injection tree shows the result set name without extension.

The contained data files are listed in the Injection List window. They have the file extension .dx.

  • (result sets generated by ChemStation or EZChrom, as well as single runs generated by EZChrom, that are stored in ECM 3.x in a zipped format): The injection tree shows the result set name without SSIzip extension.

The contained data files are listed in the Injection List window with an *.SC.SSIzip or *.ol.ssizip data file name. For these files the description explains that no metadata are available.

Prerequisites

To be able to carry out the procedure as described, you need the privilege Project Management > Edit content of project. Privileges are configured in the Control Panel.

Load or add a result set

  1. Navigate to the required result set and select it.

  2. The injections of the selected result set or single samples folder are shown in the Injection List window. You can preview the details to decide if you want to load this data.

If a result set is currently being imported, the message No metadata available is shown in the Injection List window. Click Refresh to update the status.

  3. To load the result set, click Load Data in the ribbon, or double-click the result set.

  4. All injections of the result set are loaded, and the application switches to the Data Processing view. The data is added to other data that you may have loaded before.

Zipped ChemStation or EZChrom results are automatically unzipped and converted into the OpenLab CDS data format.

You can only load an entire result set. Loading parts of a result set is not supported.

  5. If you load unprocessed data, you may be asked to create a processing method. This depends on the system settings - see Always ask for a processing method.

  6. In this dialog, select a suitable method configuration, or select No method to load the data without creating a processing method.

If you load EZChrom data, EZChrom manual integration fixes are not loaded with the data. If you reprocess such EZChrom data, the manual integration fixes will be lost.

Load or add single samples

  1. In the Data Selection Tree, browse to the folder containing the single samples.

  2. The data file extension depends on the data origin:

    • .dx files have been created with OpenLab CDS

    • .D.SSIzip files have been created with ChemStation and are stored in ECM 3.x in a zipped format.

  3. In the Injection List window, select the check boxes of the single injections you want to load.

    • To select or deselect a range of injections:

      1. Click the first injection in the range.

      2. Hold down the [Shift] key and click the last injection in the range.

      3. Press [Space] to select or clear the check boxes in the range.

    • To select multiple single injections:

      1. Click the first injection.

      2. Hold down the [Ctrl] key while clicking the individual injections.

      3. Press Space to select or clear the check boxes of the highlighted injections.

    • To select or deselect all single injections in a folder:

      1. Select or clear the check box in the column header at the top of the injection list.

  4. Click Load Data in the ribbon.

  5. All selected injections are loaded, and the application switches to the Data Processing view. The data is added to other data that you may have loaded before. If there are processing methods linked to the data, and the methods are available in the Methods folder of your project, the methods are automatically loaded together with the data. The methods are then listed in the Method Selector.

  6. If you load unprocessed data, you may be asked to create a processing method. This depends on the system settings - see Always ask for a processing method.

  7. In this dialog, select a suitable method configuration, or select No method to load the data without creating a processing method.

If you load EZChrom data, EZChrom manual integration fixes are not loaded with the data. If you reprocess such EZChrom data, the manual integration fixes will be lost.
