Detailed Status

The Detailed Status button on the Vial Status tab displays a comprehensive, real-time summary of the progress of each vial.

Vial progress

The window lists each substep for the vial and its current progress.

  • The current substep progress can be Pending, In Process, Completed, or Failed.
  • A right arrow indicates the current substep.
  • A check indicates a completed substep.
  • A completed substep also shows the date and time completed.

A status of Failed indicates the step did not successfully complete. Refer to the HS display for more information about the error. (Depending on the data system, additional information may be available in a system log or status log.)

If a sequence aborts, it may be useful to see exactly which processing steps were performed on the last vial handled. Determine the substep where processing stopped as follows:

  1. Open the detailed status for the last vial processed.
  2. Look for the substep with status In Process. This substep is the one that was being processed when the sequence aborted. Note that any remaining substeps will show no status at all. They will no longer show as Pending, because the sequence is aborted.

Substeps

  • Loading vial: Vial is being placed into the oven.
  • Equilibrating sample: The vial is in the oven (for the time specified in Vial Equilibration).
  • Preparing for injection [n]: The vial moves to the sample probe, and is processed as defined by the method (including vial puncture, pressurization time, sample loop fill time, and so forth). (This step appears once per injection.)
  • Injecting sample [n]: The HS is injecting the sample into the GC. (When concentrating sample, this event occurs after the final extraction. For multiple extractions per vial, this event occurs once per extraction.)
  • Waiting for next injection: The HS has sent a start run signal to the GC, and is preparing to continue vial processing. (This step appears once per injection, only when performing multiple injections per vial.)
  • Completing sample processing: The HS has completed the sampling processes for this vial. (The HS may continue to handle or transport the vial for a short time.)

For multiple headspace extractions from a vial, [n] denotes the extraction number. For example, substep Injecting sample [2] refers to the second injection from the vial.
