OpenLab CDS roles

OpenLab CDS provides pre-defined roles. The following tables list the privileges that are associated with each OpenLab CDS role.

System Administrator

Privilege Description

Create administrative reports

Create any of the system admin reports

Edit activity log properties

Change the Activity log Settings in the Control Panel (that is, turn logging on for the System Activity Log)

Manage instrument controllers

Edit Instrument Controllers in the Control Panel

Manage printers

Add/remove printers and print server

Manage security

Change security settings and edit (add, change etc) users, groups, and roles.

Note: A user with this privilege can grant himself access to all settings in Shared Services. Be careful who you grant the Manage Security privilege.

Manage system components

Install/remove components (applications)

Unlock any locked UI

Log into another user's locked session

View Activity Log

View the activity log

Instrument Administrator

Privilege Description

Manage instrument or location

Create, move, and delete instruments and instrument locations, and edit properties (name, description, etc.)

Manage instrument or location access

User can view and edit the location access settings

Run instrument

User can start an instrument session

Service instrument

User can lock or unlock an instrument (to service it)

View instrument or location

View and access a location in the tree and view location properties; cannot edit access security

Project Administrator

Privilege Description

E-Signature Sign Data Files

Sign data files

Edit content of project

Create new versions of documents (e.g., data, methods, or templates)

Manage project or project group

Create, move, edit, and delete projects and project groups, and edit project properties, but cannot access settings

Manage project or project group access

View and edit the project access settings

View project or project group

View a project and project details but cannot edit Note: This privilege is required for all users.

Process data using a processing method with a generic method status. This is only applicable to OpenLab CDS Workstation Plus.

Use generic sample prep methods

Submit runs using sample prep methods with a generic method status. This is only applicable to OpenLab CDS Workstation Plus.

Use Integration Optimizer

Use the user interface modules in the Integration Optimizer layout

Validate report template

Confirm usage of report templates that have been modified outside OpenLab CDS
