Update a master method based on a changed result set method

When you work with a result set method (processing method copied in the result set with the data), you have the possibility to update the master method (processing method file with the same filename, located in the Methods folder or subfolder; the Methods folder is defined in the Control Panel).

Prerequisites

  • To be able to carry out the procedure as described, you need the privileges Project Management > Edit content of project and Data Processing > Update master processing method. Privileges are configured in the Control Panel.

  • The master method must be writable. Read-only methods are marked with a read-only symbol .

  • If the project enforces method approval, the status of the master method that you want to update must be Generic. For details, see Method approval.

  1. In the Methods section of the navigation pane, select the result set method.

  2. Right-click the result set method, and select Update master method with selected method from the context menu. Alternatively, you can click Update Master Method in the Processing ribbon tab.

  3. If a master method exists in the Methods folder or one of its subfolders, a dialog opens where the exact paths and the revision numbers of the master method and result set method are shown. The revision numbers are automatically incremented by one when you save a method.

  4. Click Yes to update the master method.

  5. If no master method exists, it will be created.

If several versions of the master method exist, always the latest version will be updated.

If the method audit trail is activated in the updated master method, the system adds audit trail entries for all updated method properties.
