Method approval

This feature allows you to ensure that only approved methods can be used to acquire and process data.

If you activate this feature, a status label becomes editable for your master processing methods. By default, the status is Generic. Only users with the privilege E-Signature > Change method status can change the master method status.

Result set methods are created during linking data to the master method. Linking directly to a result set method is not allowed if method approval is enforced. The result set method always has the same status label as the master method that it was created from. The status of result set methods cannot be changed.

Users without the privilege Processing method > Use generic processing methods can link injections only to approved master methods, and they can reprocess result sets only if approved methods are linked.

The following values are available under Method status in the General > Properties node of the processing method:

  • Generic, that is, not yet approved

Using generic master methods for processing data is restricted by privilege.

  • Approved

Only the latest version of an approved method can be loaded.

Approved methods cannot be modified. Only automatic updates may occur during calibration calculations or for retention time updates.

  • Obsoleted

Obsoleted methods cannot be linked to result sets.

Only the latest version of an obsoleted method can be loaded.

    Obsoleted methods cannot be modified.

In the current version of Openlab CDS, the following actions are permitted:

  • Print an obsoleted method.

  • Print a generic method, even if you do not have the privilege to use it for processing.

  • Print single run results, even if the linked processing method has been set to Obsoleted after generating the results.

  • Modify the method status even if the Audit Trail has not been reviewed first.
