These are EI default tune file names that are both ion source and tuning procedure specific. These default file names can be changed by using the save as icon function before performing an autotune. The ion source type is engraved on the source for EI and EXT sources and viewable in the MS analyzer window.
atune - default tune file name for the standard EI source when used with the autotune tuning procedure.
stune - default tune file name for the standard EI source when used with the spectral tuning procedure.
etune - default tune file name for the EXT source that has an adjustable extractor lens and uses a tuning procedure that includes this specific lens.
Quick tune - begins the tune using the parameter settings from the current tune and only adjusts the mass axis, peak widths, and EM voltage; the lenses are unaffected. Quick Tune provides a fine tuning to ensure acceptable response as well as resolution and accurate mass assignment. Quick Tune does not adjust the relative abundances of the three tuning masses. As long as these relative abundances are at acceptable values (in other words, the instrument is already nearly tuned), Quick Tune is the preferred method of daily tuning. A Quick Tune completes in as little as 25% of the time required for an autotune. A full autotune (tune from defaults) is always needed after switching to the spare filament or after venting the analyzer.
Tune from default settings - The factory default tune file settings for the installed ion source type are used as the starting point for the autotune. This tune takes much longer than a quick tune but is necessary after venting the analyzer or switching to the spare filament.
Print report - automatically sends a tune report to a printer at the completion of the autotune or quick tune.
View Report - click to view the most recent Autotune, Tune Parameters, or Evaluation report. A Tune Evaluation report is available if the tune file used is unchanged since the Tune Evaluation report was generated.
When the autotune is running, the profile scans of the three tune masses are continuously plotted in the Spectrum window along with a composite overlay of these masses, and a text status line displaying below the Spectrum window. You may click on any item in the status window to halt the scroll, then click anywhere outside the scrolling text area to restart the scrolling status.
If you have manual tune permissions, you may override:
See Override Options for more details.
A pdf autotune report is displayed when the autotune is complete. Examine the Manual Tune > Parameters window to review the values calculated by the autotune procedure whenever an autotune file is loaded.
