Acquisition Profile Window UI

This window displays in Manual Tune > Acquisition when Profile is selected in the Acquisition Type menu. These parameters control the scanning and display of data in profile scans and spectral scans.

Profile Parameters

Mass 1 (m/z), Mass 2 (m/z), and Mass 3 (m/z) are the three masses displayed during profile scans. They are the masses to be used in the tuning process. Default values are set for tuning with perfluorotributylamine (PFTBA). Avoid using ions that are within 100 amu of each other when doing a Custom Tune.  Choosing masses that are less than 100 amu apart will result in an aborted tune procedure.

Window +/- (m/z) sets the window size for profile scans; the entered value (in m/z) is one-half of the window width. For example, if the window is 10, the profile scan for m/z 69 would be from 59 to 79 m/z. The smaller this value, the faster profile scans will be taken. The minimum for this value depends on the Scanning - Step Size. The range is 0.3 - 100 m/z.

Speed - The number of abundance samples to average during a 0.1 amu step. A sampling rate of 4 to 8 is typical for narrow bore capillary columns. We recommend that you select the same sample value for tuning and for data acquisition.

Averages - Use this field to set the number of profile scans to be averaged for each scan reported or displayed. Allowed values are 1 through 9. The smaller this number the faster the scan times. A higher number causes slower acquisition of tuning data but is useful for tuning small or very noisy signals. Default is 1.

Step size (m/z) - Use this field to set the mass step size for profile scans. The larger this value is the faster scans are taken (at the cost of resolution). The range of this value is 0.05 m/z through 0.2 m/z (20 steps/AMU to 5 Steps/AMU).

Run

Data is continuously acquired and displayed in the Spectrum window until you click Stop acquiring data.
