Foreline pump oil contamination is characterized by peaks spaced 14 m/z apart (hydrocarbons). Contamination with foreline pump oil is less common than contamination with diffusion pump fluid, but can occur if the foreline pump is allowed to operate for an extended time with the diffusion pump off and no carrier gas flow into the system.
