Reinitializing communication between the MSD and the data system

  1. In the Control Panel, select your instrument and click Close Connection.

    If communications are not reestablished:

  1. On diffusion pump-equipped MSDs, disconnect the HIVAC POWER cable from the back panel of the MSD and wait 15 minutes. This shuts off the diffusion pump and allows it to cool but leaves the foreline pump operating.

  2. Switch off the MSD power switch (all MSDs).

    WARNING! If you are using hydrogen carrier gas, cool all heated zones and shut off the carrier gas.

  1. Restart the software.

  2. Turn on the MSD and follow the normal pumpdown procedure. The pumpdown procedure should reestablish communications between the MSD and the data system.
