Select either the Host Name option or the IP address option and enter the appropriate value for the host computer to enable automatic detection of the hardware configuration.
All modules configured for this instrument use the same communications settings. Therefore, when you have entered the connection settings, the system configures the instrument automatically with no further manual configuration necessary.
For manual configuration, ensure that the same Host Name and IP address are used for all devices in the main stack. |
When automatic configuration has completed, all detected modules are set up in the Configured Modules window of the system configuration for this instrument. In addition, the serial numbers and firmware revisions of all detected modules are set in each device configuration; the serial numbers and firmware revisions of existing modules are updated if necessary.
If the module is equipped with an additional LAN interface, Auxiliary communication settings dialog box, which allows you to specify an additional network connection to increase the network communication speed of the module.
displays anFor an additional connection, ensure that the Use auxiliary connection check box in the Auxiliary communication settings dialog box is marked, and enter the IP address or host name of the additional detector.
If, for example, multiple UV detectors (DAD, an HDR cluster or 2D-LC configurations) are used for spectra acquisition, each detector must use its own LAN interface(s) for sufficient communication bandwidth. All LAN interfaces must be connected to the instrument control PC via network hub/switch or lab IT infrastructure. The modules still need to be connected separately via CAN. |
To use multiple LAN connections for an instrument, an auxiliary connection must configured in instrument configuration > communication settings > additional connection. The additional connection can be specified for any (first, second, ...) of the detectors. In Auxiliary Connection Settings, mark the Use auxiliary connection check box and enter the IP address or host name of the additional detector. Standard connection settings for all detectors still show settings for the first/main detector.
