Specifying a Location

The format of the location address depends on the sampler type, the data system, and the version of the data system.

Only one of the following formats may be available.

Linear addressing

For containers that support linear addressing (1, 2, 3, ...), you specify the location on the container by the position number in the format Vial <#>. Usually, <#> is also sufficient.

Examples:

Row and column addressing

For containers that support row and column addressing (A1, A2, A3, ...), you specify the location on the container by the row character and the column number.

Examples:

Specifying the container

To specify the container, add a prefix to the location address. One or both of the following prefixes are valid:

  • Classic numbering has the format P<#>.

  • Modern numbering has the format D<#><Position>, where <Position> is F = drawer front, M = drawer middle, or B = drawer back.

Examples:

The preceding examples show the default "-" separator and prefixes. Your data system might instead use a different separator and have a mapping for the prefixes.

Specifying the module in a Fraction Collector Cluster

To specify the module in the cluster, add a prefix to the location resp. container address.
