Monitor EMF parameters (LC/MS)
You can configure the limits before an EMF Service Due message is generated. The message is added to the Logbook. See Change EMF parameters (LC/MS).
In the SQ device on the Dashboard, if you hover over the icon, you can see any Early Maintenance Feedback (EMF) messages for the SQ. For example, it can report if the Checktune and Autotune are expired.
- If needed, click Instrument Status.

- In the Instrument Status window, click the Dashboard tab.
- If needed, click Take. In this image, Take is already selected.

- Examine the SQ device on the Dashboard. If a check mark appears next to EMF, then no maintenance is needed. If an exclamation mark appears next to EMF, then maintenance is required. You can hover the cursor over the EMF to see which maintenance task requires attention.
- Right-click the SQ device, and select Maintenance.
- In the Maintenance dialog box, find any yellow or red Progress bars. Refer to the video Maintenance Guide for information on how to perform these maintenance tasks.
- If Autotune is red, Tune the MS automatically (LC/MS).
- If Checktune is red, Run Checktune (LC/MS) or Tune the MS automatically (LC/MS).
- If Injection count is red, then service is due. Clean the source.
- If Diverter valve switches is red, then service is due. Replace the Diverter valve seal and stator.
- If Rough pump is red, then service is due. Replace the rough pump oil.
- If Gas filter is red, then the gas filter has reached the end of its usable life. Replace the gas filter.
- If Detector health is red, then the EM horn requires replacement. The end of the high-performance period has been reached.
- If Nebulizer status is red, then no ion signal is observed. The Nebulizer may be clogged, or the calibrant bottle may be empty.
- If Ion injector status is red, then the Ion injector may be blocked or the Ion injector requires replacement.
- If Spray stability status is red, then the spray stability is not optimal. The nebulizer needs to be cleaned or rebuilt.
