The Width offset parameter affects the width of the mass peaks by adjusting the ratio of DC voltage to RF voltaget on the mass filter. A higher value gives narrower peaks.

You can click Adjust Mass Peaks on the Tune > MS Section to automatically adjust the Width gain and Width offset to achieve the target peak width (+/- 0.05 u). Manual adjustment is a more reliable way of finding the optimum gain and offset values.
Peak widths tend to increase at higher masses. A width offset that yields correct peak widths at lower masses may not yield the correct peak widths at higher masses. Width offset can by dynamically ramped for better instrument performance once good values are found for different masses.
