Show an instrument trace

You can display various instrument types, depending on the modules you use. This procedure shows you how to add the pump pressure instrument trace to your report.

You can report instrument traces for data acquired by OpenLab CDS 2.8 as well as for data acquired by OpenLab CDS ChemStation Edition, even though the ChemStation instrument traces are not visible in Data Analysis.

  1. In the Chromatogram Properties, select the Instrument Traces page.

  2. Select the Include Instrument Traces check box.

  3. To show the chromatograms together with the instrument traces, select the Include Chromatograms check box.

  4. To show instrument traces without chromatograms, clear the Include Chromatograms check box.

  5. Under Filter List, click into the Expression field.

  6. The expression SIGNAL NAME is automatically set.

  7. In the Operation field, select Contains.

  8. In the Value field, enter .

  9. Under Instrument Signal Style: If you want to use specific colors, pen widths, and dash styles for your instrument traces, select the Custom Style checkbox.

  10. Adjust the styles as required. If your data includes more than eight instruments traces, the colours starting from Signal 1 will be used again for the additional instrument traces.

  11. Save the settings.

  12. Preview the report.

  13. Each chromatogram in the report contains the associated pressure trace. If you used two pumps, two pressure traces will be displayed.

The display format (such as Overlaid or Separate) depends on the settings in the Multi Signals page of the Chromatogram Properties.

In order to find out which other instrument traces are available, remove any filters in the Instrument Traces page and preview the report. The available signal names are shown in a legend.
