The items in the Universal Interface Box graphic have the following meaning and function:

 | Shows the source of the Analog Out signal (upper) or Test Signal (lower) |

 | Shows the current states of the four external contacts, closed (upper) or open (lower). | 
| 
 | Shows the current state of the Analog In source. | 
| 
 | The label shows which Voltage Out voltages (5 V and/or 24 V) are currently enabled. | 
The following Universal Interface Box actuals are displayed:
| Analog out | The current source of the Analog Out signal or Test Signal. | 
| Contact <n> | The current states of the four external contacts. | 
| Analog in | The current Analog In signal, | 
| Voltage out (5V) | The current state of the 5V Voltage Out. | 
| Voltage out (24V) | The current state of the 24V Voltage Out. | 
| GPIO ports used by | The current user of the GPIO port. | 
| ERI mode | The current mode of the Extended Remote Interface. | 
The context menu contains the following commands:

 | Displays the universal interface box's Control dialog box. |

 | Displays the universal interface box's Method Setup dialog box. |

 | Causes the LED on the front of the module to blink for a few seconds. |
