To specify a sample, wash, or fraction location, specify its position on the container (plate or tray) and, if necessary, the position of the container in the sampling module.
NOTE
The format of the location address depends on the sampler type, the data system, and the version of the data system.
Only one of the following formats may be available.
For containers that support linear addressing (1, 2, 3, ...), you specify the location on the container by the position number in the format Vial <#>. Usually, <#> is also sufficient.
Examples:
Vial 1
1
For containers that support row and column addressing (A1, A2, A3, ...), you specify the location on the container by the row character and the column number.
Examples:
A1
A-1
To specify the container, add a prefix to the location address. One or both of the following prefixes are valid:
Classic numbering has the format P<#>.
Modern numbering has the format D<#><Position>, where <Position> is F = drawer front, M = drawer middle, or B = drawer back.
Examples:
P1-Vial 1
D1F-Vial 1
P1-1
D1F-1
P1-A1
or P1-A-1
or P1A1
D1F-A1
or D1F-A-1
or D1FA1
NOTE
The preceding examples show the default "-" separator and prefixes. Your data system might instead use a different separator and have a mapping for the prefixes.
NOTE
For multisamplers, the classic numbering P<#> starts with the bottom drawer front, then bottom drawer back, and continues upwards.
When you move the mouse over the sample hotel graphic in the dashboard, an enlarged graphic of the sample hotel is displayed. Move the mouse over a container to see a tooltip indicating the prefix used.
NOTE
The Preparative Sampler uses the same naming schemes as the Open-Bed Fraction Collector:
An offset is used to address locations on external trays and trays that can be used at more than one position in the sampling module:
If the tray is installed on the left side, the locations have the numbers 1 to 40.
If the same tray is installed on the right side, the locations have the numbers 101 to 140 (offset = 100).
It doesn't matter whether a container is inserted on the left.
If an external tray is installed, the locations have the numbers 201 to 206 (offset = 200).
