Sample Scheduler for OpenLab provides an automatic command completion mechanism using the Auto-fill trigger option. It is aimed at adding information to an incomplete command generated by the LIMS before its entry into the Sample Scheduler database. When the LIMS cannot generate a complete XML command (that leads to the creation of an analysis in the Sample Scheduler), the command is automatically filled with the missing parameter values.
Automatic completion is also useful for manually created analyses when certain parameters are often executed together (for example, a certain instrument with an injection source or acquisition method). Instead of defining these parameters as mandatory fields, you can configure certain parameters (for example, project or instrument) as Auto-fill trigger in the Commands tab of Sample Scheduler configuration. When an analysis is created (by the LIMS, client or web interface) with the respective trigger (for example, a certain instrument), the corresponding parameters are automatically defined in the background.
The automatic completion feature is based on the Auto-Fills table, which contains templates of analyses. These templates consist of Auto-fill values used to complete commands as well as manually created analyses.
To use the Automatic command fill-in feature, the user must:
Configure the Auto-fill trigger list in the Commands tab.
Populate the Auto-fills table with templates in the Auto-Fills tab.
