Overview of Retention Time Locking (RTL)

Retention Time Locking (RTL) matches and locks retention times for an established GC method. It can provide long-term repeatability on a given instrument, correct retention times after column maintenance changes, and even maintain the same retention times after moving the method to another instrument. To accomplish these tasks, the RTL wizard studies the relationship between inlet parameters and retention time during three (3) reference runs, then calibrates the system using the results. The RTL wizard stores this relationship in the method. For any GC that runs the retention time locked method, you can match the original instrument retention times by performing a simple "relocking" analysis.
