Difficulty with the fan

If a cooling fan fault occurs, the vacuum control electronics automatically shut off the high vacuum pump. Therefore, the message: The system is in vent state (high vacuum pump off) may also appear. The essential part of this second message is that the high vacuum pump is off. The vacuum manifold actually may not be vented.

A fan is disconnected or has failed

  1. Remove the upper and lower MSD covers.

WARNING! Do not remove any other covers. Dangerous voltages will be present.

  1. Check the fan for the high vacuum pump. Make sure it is drawing air into the MSD.

  2. If the fan for the high vacuum pump is not working, check its wiring. Make sure is securely connected. If the fan is connected correctly and is still not working, replace it. See the MSD maintenance documentation for instructions for replacing the fan for the high vacuum pump.

  3. Check the fan in the electronics module (make sure air is blowing out of the electronics module).

WARNING! Do not open the electronics module. Dangerous voltages are present inside. If the electronics module fan is not working, contact your Agilent Technologies service representative.
