Three different needle movements are available for the fraction collector:
The needle moves into the fraction location by the specified depth. The depth is specified in the Depth field.
The needle movement into location cannot be operated in conjunction with continuous flow. |
The needle stays over the fraction location with the tip of the needle at the specified distance above the location. The distance is specified in the adjacent Distance field.
The needle is lowered into the location to a specified distance above the bottom of the location; the distance is specified in the adjacent Distance field. As the location is filled, the needle moves upwards, which prevents the formation of air bubbles below the fraction in small-volume locations, and ensures that the needle is free of drops before it moves to the next fraction position.
This is the recommended mode for spotting and for micro fractions.
If the Spotting option is used for the G1364D Low Flow Fraction Collector, see details for the spotting needle movements .
