Using Recovery Locations

The recovery location is a location on the fraction collector in which all eluent is collected that is not explicitly collected as a fraction. The purpose is to save the eluent that might contain components that have not been fractionated by the current method settings.

You can set up recovery locations under the following circumstances:

  1. Fixed recovery locations are automatically assigned for the following tray configurations. In order to disable the recovery, the tray configurations have to be changed.

    • Standard tray for two wellplates + 10 funnels (G1364-84502)

In this configuration, the 10 funnel locations are automatically used for recovery.

    • Standard tray for two wellplates + 10 × 2 ml vial (G1367-60001) and half tray for 40 × 2 ml vials (G1313-44502)

In this configuration, the forty 2 ml vials on the half tray are automatically used for recovery.

    • Standard tray for two wellplates + 10 × 2 ml vial (G1367-60001) and half tray for 15 × 6 ml vials (G1313-44503)

In this configuration, the fifteen 6 ml vials on the half tray are automatically used for recovery.

    • Standard tray for two wellplates + 10 × 2 ml vial (G1367-60001) and half tray with 40 funnels (G1364-84512)

In this configuration, the funnels on the half tray are automatically used for recovery.

Use of funnel trays (2 wellplates + 10-funnel tray, and 40-funnel tray) makes sense only in combination with an analytical or semi-preparative fraction collector, where a needle is available.

  2. If you are using a G1364D Low Flow Fraction Collector, you can collect the recovery solvent by selecting Recovery on the track. Recovery eluent is collected in sequential locations, as the chromatography progresses.
