Edit a 35900E method

For channel A and/or B:

  1. Open the method in the data system method editor.
  2. Set the check box on Enable Channel A or Enable Channel B to permit signal data collection on this channel.
  3. Enter the Run Time in minutes for this channel.
  4. Enter the time in minutes between the start of the run and the collection of the initial signal data in Acquisition Delay.
  5. Select a signal Sampling Rate between 0.1 Hz and 100 Hz from the drop-down list. Expected peak widths for each sampling rate are shown.
  6. Select Signal as the Source to send a channel's signal data to the data system. (You can also select Test Plot to send a predetermined test signal to  the data system for processing.)
  7. Add or edit method events. If this method needs to control an external event, click the Add button on the Events table.
    1. Enter an event Start Time, in minutes. The event starts after the entered number of minutes into the run or after the run, depending on the When setting. If Before Run is selected as When, the entered Start Time is ignored. Various other factors including the time required for the instrument to reach setpoint usually determine the run start time.
    2. Select when the event begins using the When drop-down list.
      • During Run: After the run begins, the event starts after the number of minutes specificed in Start Time.
      • After Run: The event begins the specified number of minutes after the run ends.
      • Before Run: The event starts as soon as the method is downloaded to the instrument.
    3. Click Select Event and select an event from the Select Event list. See also 35900E Event Configuration.
  8. If needed, add or edit additional events. You can also Cut, Copy, Paste, Remove (delete), or Clear All (delete all) events.
  9. Save the method.
