Sample Scheduler

Sample Scheduler for OpenLab helps to improve the productivity of the laboratory by fully automating the chromatographic analysis. It is a powerful interface between any front-end platform, for example a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), that sends analysis orders, and the OpenLab CDS solution that performs and processes the analysis.

The Sample Scheduler allows users to work with a lab-wide worklist across instruments. It polls the LIMS for new incoming analysis requests. If the LIMS is configured to generate analysis requests containing all the information required by OpenLab CDS, no or only minimal user interaction is required to start the analysis. Sample Scheduler queues the scheduled analysis as soon as the instrument is available.

With Sample Scheduler in place, you do not need to interact with the CDS client at all. You use the Sample Scheduler client to direct the samples to the assigned instrument, follow the analysis state progression, or edit the analysis parameters.

NOTE

If an analysis is scheduled in Sample Scheduler, do NOT start it manually in OpenLab CDS or directly on the instrument. The analysis would then be added to the CDS Run Queue, which is not managed by Sample Scheduler.

Sample Scheduler for OpenLab provides an easy way to build automation work-lists and pseudo-sequences at the laboratory level across instruments, routing samples from a single screen to assigned instruments and displaying the results of the analysis.

The web interface of Sample Scheduler gives you an overview of your chromatographic analyses. You can view and edit analyses via a simple web browser. To get familiar with the Sample Scheduler web interface, see Getting started.

Sample Scheduler for OpenLab works with OpenLab CDS Client/Server systems using Content Management. It communicates with OpenLab CDS via the Shared Services. Users, projects, and instruments configured for OpenLab CDS can be used in Sample Scheduler. Sample Scheduler privileges are available in the Control Panel.

Several Sample Scheduler installation configurations are supported. To learn more about supported configurations, please refer to the Sample Scheduler for OpenLab Installation & Configuration Guide.
