Instrument Management

The Instrument management allows you to define the way the Sample Scheduler will manage the instruments. The instrument management section must be filled.

These parameters are displayed:

  • Instrument: the name of the instruments configured in OpenLab CDS. This parameter is automatically filled according to the list of instruments configured in the Control Panel.

  • Sample Scheduler Agent Computer Name: The Sample Scheduler agent is the agent in charge of performing the analyses on a set of instruments. It communicates with the OpenLab CDS Agilent Instrument Controller (AIC) to get the state of an instrument each time an analysis is launched in the Sample Scheduler.

In this case, select the name of the computer where the Sample Scheduler agent is installed. The name has to be chosen in the list of available Sample Scheduler agent computers (to help the user to select the right computer, the computer description is displayed in parenthesis). It is advised to distribute the instruments on several Sample Scheduler agents, to distribute the memory consumption (RAM) accordingly.

An instrument is only displayed in the Sample Scheduler client, if:

  • the instrument has been assigned to a Sample Scheduler agent, and

  • the agent of the instrument has been started/restarted.

For more information, refer to How to configure the Instrument Management.

If changes are applied to the Sample Scheduler configuration that require a restart of the Sample Scheduler client, a pop-up message appears in the client informing the user that the client needs to be restarted.
