Take or release instrument control
You can Take or Release instrument control in order to perform direct control actions on the Status and Method layouts.
- When the instrument is in Take mode, your computer is directly connected to the open instrument. In this mode, the instrument prevents other computers from establishing a direct connection to it. You are able to execute manual control features, which allow you to change current operating parameters on the instrument. These include, but are not limited to, downloading methods, directly changing pressures and flow rates, turning on purge modes, and setting bottle fillings. Manual controls are typically accessed by right-clicking on the interfaces provided in the Instrument Status window.
- When the instrument is in Release mode, your computer is not connected to the open instrument, and other computers are able to connect to it. In this mode, you will not be able to execute manual control features, which allow you to change current operating parameters on the instrument.
Request instrument control
If another user has control of an instrument, you can request to take control of the instrument from that user. Click Take to send a request to the user who is currently in control of the instrument. A notification is presented, and that user can either keep or release control. If the user does not respond within 60 seconds, control is automatically released to you.
