Apply normalization

Prerequisites

  • To be able to carry out the procedure as described, you need the privilege Processing Method > Edit calibration parameters. Privileges are configured in the Control Panel.

  • If the project enforces method approval, the method status must be Generic. For details, see Method approval.

  1. If the Processing Method window is hidden, click Processing Method in the Home ribbon tab to show the window.

  2. In the Processing Method window, select the Compounds > Calibration node.

  3. Choose your settings in the General tab:

    • Select the Normalize to check box.

    • Choose the required unit, and enter the required normalization factor to which normalization should be applied.

    • Consider selecting the Apply correction factors to normalized concentrations check box. If you select it, the sample-specific multipliers and dilution factors that you define in the injection list are included in the calculation.

If you apply correction factors, check if you need to change the Concentration and corrected amount calculation setting.

    • If you want to include internal standards in the normalization, check the Include ISTD amount check box, too.

If you use a GC/LC Norm Percent method, the Normalize to and Apply correction factors to normalized concentrations check boxes are selected by default. The normalization factor is set to 100 %, and the concentration is calculated as Amount * Multipliers / Dil.factor.

  4. In the Processing Method window, select the Reports > Injection Report node.

  5. To report normed amounts, choose one of the following default report templates in the General tab:

    • NormAmount.rdl (A4 paper format)

    • NormAmount_letter.rdl (Letter paper format)

If you use a GC/LC Norm Percent method, both templates are set: the Letter format as Report #1, and the A4 format as Report #2.

  6. By default, all compounds and timed groups contribute to the normalization computation. To exclude specific compounds or timed groups, select the Compound Table tab, and clear the corresponding check boxes in the Use in normalization column.

  7. Named groups never contribute to the normalization computation.
