Override column parameters

If you installed the 2D-LC Add-on, and you check the system suitability values for a ²D column: Use the transfer time as the void time that you enter in the column parameters. See 2D-LC help for details.

The column parameters, for example length or diameter, are entered in the acquisition software or provided by a column tag reader. If you use an LC column compartment that does not yet support column tags, the column parameters shown in the Acquisition Setpoints window on the Column parameters tab may be outdated or incomplete. To be able to use the correct values anyway, the application allows you to override all parameters.

Prerequisites

  • Use a processing method configuration that includes system suitability parameters.

  • To be able to carry out the procedure as described, you need the privilege Processing Method > Edit system suitability parameters. Privileges are configured in the Control Panel.

  • If the project enforces method approval, the method status must be Generic. For details, see Method approval.

  1. Link your processing method to the relevant injections.

  2. or Reprocess the relevant injections with the already linked method.

By reprocessing the data, you ensure that the column information in the method and in the Acquisition setpoints are synchronized.

  3. In the processing method, select the System Suitability > Column node.

  4. Select the Override column parameters check box.

  5. The columns table is automatically populated with the parameters for all columns used to acquire the linked injections.

  6. Click in the table to change the parameters as required. You can override any of the following parameters:

    • Name

    • Serial number

    • Length

    • Length unit

    • Diameter

    • Particle size

    • Dead volume

    • Void time

    • Batch number

    • Bubblecap

    • Effective length

    • Film thickness

    • Max pH

    • Max Pressure

    • Max Temperature

    • Product number

    • Comment Manufacturer

    • Description

    • Column ID

  7. Reprocess.

  8. The new values are now shown in the Overridden column parameters tab of the Acquisition Setpoints window, and in your reports. In addition, they are used as default values when you adjust the void time and length for the column performance check.

  9. Save all results.

  10. The overridden column parameters are saved with the result set data. That means, even if you link the data to another processing method, the overridden column parameters will still be available.

If you want to save column parameters with a processing method, you must edit and save and unlinked method.
