Specify the scan time segments
This part of method creation is a continuation of the method started in Create a new GC/MS method.

Click
to add a time segment to the table. Use the Table Icons to edit rows in the time segments table. -
Enter Time, Start mass, End mass, Threshold, and Scan Speed. The values for Frequency, Cycle Time, and Step Size are calculated by the system and displayed for this time segment.
The valid range for scans on a 5977C MSD is 0.6 m/z to 1091 m/z. The valid range for scans on the 5975, 5977A, and 5977B MSDs is 1.6 m/z to 1050 m/z. -
For each additional scan time segment, click
to add a row at the end to the time segments table. Enter the values for this new time segment as done for the previous step. A maximum of 3 Scan time segments is permitted. -
When done specifying the Scan Time Segments, return to the Create a new GC/MS method procedure or, if the acquisition type is SIM and Scan, go to Specify SIM Time Segments and their ions.
