Gas Flow sets the flow rate in L/min of the nitrogen drying as. The flow required depends on the type of analysis (electrospray, APCI/APPI, or MM-ES+APCI), the LC flow rate, and the Gas Temp. In general, APCI/APPI mode requires less drying gas because the APCI vaporizer heater performs much of the drying function.
Minimum | Maximum | Typical |
---|---|---|
0* L/min | 13 L/min | API-ES 10 L/min APCI/APPI 5 L/min MM-ES+APCI 5 L/min AJS-ES 10 L/min HPLC-Chip 3 L/min |
*As long as the LC/MS or CE/MS is under vacuum, a minimum drying gas flow of 3 L/min is required to maintain a positive pressure in the spray chamber. Lower flows or no flow will result in unfiltered air flowing into the spray chamber and vacuum system.
