With OpenLab CDS Reporting, the data you loaded for analyzing and reprocessing is automatically available for reporting. The Report Template Editor (RTE) helps you building new report templates with your own template layout, or editing existing ones, for example by adding complex calculations.
To use the Report Template Editor, select the Reporting view in Data Analysis. You need the privilege Data Processing > Print results reports to see this view. Privileges are configured in the Control Panel.
With this editor, you can either create new report templates or modify existing report templates. When you open the Report Layout view, the screen displays the Report Template Editor with the last opened report template. You can either create a new report template or modify an existing one. The preview data in the Report Layout view corresponds to the data currently loaded in the Data Analysis view.
Create different report types such as single sample reports, sequence summary reports, or cross-sequence summary reports.
Using report parameters allows you to create dynamic reports that contain limited data as chosen by the user, such as all data for a specific month or year.
All report templates are based on the Report Definition Language (RDL), which is a standardized XML format provided by Microsoft®. The rendering engine respects all rules of the Microsoft Report Viewer 2008 specification (see https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd297486(v=sql.100).aspx).
The format is extended by features that scientists need on a daily basis. For more information, see Using expressions and Dictionary.
The Report Template Editor (RTE) provides various preconfigured report items - also referred to as snippets - that you can use in your templates.
The Report Template Documentation function allows you to generate a description of the report templates. The description can be saved in PDF format. It includes the layout of report items along with their parameter details, such as calculation variables, report parameters, expressions used, filter condition, sort condition, audit trail, etc.
