If you have created a
new processing method or changed an existing one, and have not saved the
changes, the method is marked with a pencil symbol
. Each time you save a
method, a new version is created (see Load previous result set version).
Prerequisites
To be able to carry out the procedure as described, you need the following privileges:
Project Management > Edit content of project
and
Processing Method > Save master method or Processing Method > Save result set method
Privileges are configured in the Control Panel.
In the Home ribbon tab, open the submenu
of the Save Method
button, then click
Save Method
As. Alternatively, click
Save Method
As
in the Processing
ribbon tab.
The Save As dialog opens.
Navigate to the path where you want to store the method. If required, click New folder to create a new folder. You can choose any location within the project path defined in the Control Panel.
If you use ECM 3.x, you can save a processing method only as a new master method. Result set methods are saved automatically during reprocessing. Creating new master method files is restricted to the level of the Methods folder. The New folder button is then disabled. |
Only methods in the default Methods folder and its subfolders will be recognized as master methods (see Update a master method based on a changed result set method). |
The drop-down list shows the recently used paths. By default, the application shows the method path that you specified in the project settings in the Control Panel.
Enter a file name.
Click Save.
If the audit trail of the original method is activated, it will also be activated for the new method. Depending on the audit trail settings for the project in the Control Panel, you may be asked to provide a reason for the change. The new method audit trail will contain an initial entry with the provided reason and a reference to the previous method.
The original method may have a defined status label (see Method approval). The method status of the new method is always Generic, independent of the original method's status label.
If you use ECM 3.x, you can save changes only to master methods, not to result set methods (see Types of processing methods). Result set methods are only saved together with the results (see Save the results).
In the Home ribbon tab, open the
submenu of the Save Method
button, then click
Save Method. Alternatively, click
Save Method
in the
Processing ribbon
tab.
Depending on the audit trails settings for the project in the Control Panel, you may be asked to provide a reason for the change. The reason will be visible in the method audit trail.
If you changed a result set method after linking, an asterisk is prepended to the method name in the navigation pane.
