Perform a Reagent Gas Flow Survey

Run a Reagent Gas Flow Survey to aid in tuning your instrument. The reagent gas flow survey examines flow across a selected range to help you determine the % reagent gas flow required to reach your chosen mass ratio.

The survey can be run before a tune to speed up the tuning process and after a tune to make additional adjustments.

  1. Create or load your method.

  2. Request tune control.

  3. Select Tune > Flow Survey.

  4. Enter a Start Flow (%) to be used by the instrument as the initial % gas flow. The default value equals 5% less than the gas flow % entered in your current tune file.

  5. Enter an End Flow (%) to be used by the instrument as the final % gas flow. The default value equals 5% greater than the gas flow % entered in your current tune file.

  6. Enter your target mass Ratio or use the default value from your current tune file.

  7. Click Start.
Acquiring flow survey data displays the plot of the mass ratios found at every integer % within the Start Flow (%) and End Flow (%) range.
To end the survey at any point, click Stop.

  8.  Click inside the Acquiring flow survey data plot, move the cursor along the plot to pin point the desired flow, and click to choose your Flow and Ratio.
The Flow value will be set at the closet integer to your selection.
The Ratio value will be set with 2 decimal places.

  9. To update your tune file with the displayed parameters, click Apply.
