User Interface
The items in the SQ instrument status pane have the following meaning and function:

The first icon indicates that all of the rows in the Acquisition Parameters table in the current method have a Positive polarity. The second icon indicates that all of the rows in the Acquisition Parameters table in the current method have a Negative polarity. If the icon alternates between these two icons, then the current method has at least one row that is positive and one row that is negative. It may switch too quickly for you to notice. You can set the rows in the Acquisition Parameters table in the Advanced Acquire > Acquisition Section or the Auto Acquire Section. The type of ion source is shown next to this icon.

LC stream diverter valve position (MS or Waste) This icon indicates whether the LC stream is directed to the mass spectrometer or to waste. You can change the direction of the LC stream by right-clicking the device pane and then selecting either LC > MS or LC > Waste. This value is automatically updated when you turn the Calibrant On or Off by clicking Calibrant in the shortcut menu. When you turn the Calibrant on, the LC stream is diverted to Waste. You can manually change this value back to MS, if you want to. See Edit the Timetable (LC/MS) for instructions on changing the diverter valve in a method. |

This icon indicates whether the Calibrant is on or off. If the icon is not grayed out, then the Calibrant is on. You can also verify whether the Calibrant is on or off when you click the shortcut menu. If the Calibrant is on, a bubble is shown next to the Calibrant command. You can turn the Calibrant on or off by right-clicking in this device pane and then selecting the Calibrant command in the shortcut menu. |
Shortcut Menu
You see the commands in the shortcut menu when you right-click the SQ device in the Instrument Status window.
On
When the SQ is on, it is ready to start a run. The Gas Flow, Nebulizer, and the temperatures are set to setpoints in the current method. It does turn on voltages. If the APPI source is installed, you can turn the APPI UV lamp on or off.
No valves are changed.
Standby
- The MS is in standby and is not ready to run.
- Quad temperature is set to 65 °C.
- Drying gas heater temperature is set to 300 °C.
- Nebulizer pressure is set to 15 psig.
- Drying gas flow is set to 3 SLPM nitrogen.
- 'Stream' Selector valve set to LC—>waste.
Calibrant
Whether or not the calibrant is on. If the Calibrant is on, a bubble appears next to this command.
LC
Whether to direct the LC stream to the MS or to Waste.
Vent
Vents the MS to atmospheric pressure. A warning message will be given because it takes several hours to reestablish the proper vacuum levels in the instrument. You can monitor the vacuum progress in the SQ tab in the Instrument Status window.
Pump Down
Pumps down the MS system to achieve high vacuum. When the pump down process finishes, the MS is in the Standby state. Pumpdown continues until the MS is at high vacuum. You can monitor the vacuum progress in the SQ tab in the Instrument Status window.
Schedule Tune
Opens the Schedule Tune dialog box. You can schedule to run either a Checktune or an Autotune at selected times. If either Checktune or Autotune is scheduled, a check mark is visible next to this command.
Maintenance
Opens the Maintenance dialog box. You can set thresholds and monitor parameters for various maintenance tasks.
Review Tune Report
Opens the Autotune or Checktune report in your default browser.
