Edit parameters of a sequence

Only sequences in Waiting, Waiting on Error or Incomplete state can be edited in the Sequence view.

A parameter may be unavailable, depending on the acquisition system. Also there are dependencies between different parameters and selected values, for example, if you select a project then only the associated acquisition methods are available. For more information, see Analysis Parameters.

All the parameters are editable except the following:

  • CDS type (if only one CDS type is configured)

  • Ended date

  • Identifier

  • Last modification by

  • Last modification date

  • LIMS IDi [i=1 to 3]

  • Priority

  • Run time

  • State

Depending on the parameter, values may require the input of text, numbers or boolean. For parameters with predefined values, you can choose the value from a list.

Prerequisites

You have opened the sequence in the Sequence view.

Only one sequence can be edited at a time in a Sample Scheduler session, and a sequence cannot be edited simultaneously in two sessions.

Edit parameters

  1. In the top of the Sequence view, select Edit Sequence.

  2. The sequence state is turned into Edited by <user name> to inform other users that the sequence is currently being edited. In this state, the sequence cannot be edited by other users, neither in the web interface nor in the client.

  3. Click or tap the parameter you want to edit. The global parameters of the sequence are displayed in the sequence header. Parameters that are specific to the included analyses are listed in the table.

  4. Enter a value in a parameter field. For Data file, Result Path and Result, your values are validated immediately upon entry. Invalid values (such as / : * ?) are not accepted. In this case the last valid value is displayed. The characters < and > are allowed and can be used for both text and tokens.

  5. or  For the parameter with predefined values, select a value from the drop-down list.

  6. Save your entries.

  7. The sequence state changes. The sequence can now be edited by other users.

Required parameters (for example, project, instrument, injection source, acquisition method, and result name) are marked with an asterisk.

In the sequence header, the labels of required parameters (for example, project, instrument, and result name) are highlighted in red if no value is specified.

In case of missing or invalid values in the table, the table is highlighted in red, as well as the relevant parameters and values. Hidden columns (parameters) that have invalid or missing values are displayed in the table. Invalid values will be removed from the table after saving.

Assign values to all required parameters to change the sequence state to Waiting. Then you can schedule the sequence.
